Almost @ the end of this 6 pack. One
last nomination for Best Picture of the Week of O before getting to
the big Blue Ribbon.
From 1997 Trey Parker's Orgazmo
Mormon Joe Young needs money so he &
his fiance can get married in the temple & takes a leading role
in the super hero porno movie Orgazmo. Even though they use a stunt
cock for all the penetration he's @ a moral cross roads to his Mormon
beliefs. Joe just wants his money & return to Utah. His co-star
constructs an actual Orgazmorator & Joe become a real life super
hero out to thwart the evil porn director Maxx Orbison who is
muscling in on a local sushi bar, won't let Joe out of his contract &
has kidnapped his wife to be. NC-17 comedy down & dirty that's
so funny it will make you jizz in your pants w/out prosthetic aid.
Before getting to the Blue Ribbon as
always some self pandering. After being suspended for a week (I
guess I was in need of a time out) Blaxushine is back on Twitter &
can be followed @Blaxunshine (easy enough) letting you know what is
being watched during the week, some hell that Im enduring 9-5 as a
working class dog & just some other bullshit that makes it way
out into cyberspace when there is no speed bump between my brain &
my fingers.
A few other people's stuff that I
suggest you check out that Im following.. as always Lost_on42ndSt w/ badass Grindhouse & 60/70s throw
back internet radio, Drive-InMob w/ the weekly online tweet along & DirtyGirl for your kickass horror needs.
13 movies were watched for this week's
go around for the letter O. Those that didn't make the final cut
were One Dark Night, Outland, Omega Man, Of Unknown Origin, Operation
Crossbow, Octagon & One Crazy Summer. Really hard narrowing it
down to the top 6 nominations because I didn't really watch a bad
movie..well One Dark Night wasn't too smokin hot but it does have the
occasional charms & it does have Adam West in it even though he
brings nothing to it. I hope he enjoyed his ham sandwich.
Alright time for the big award..Best
Picture for the Week of O – The Pabst Blue Ribbon
Once again the nominees were Out of the
Blue, The Orphan, Outlaw Jose Wales, The Omen, One Trick Pony &
Orgazmo.
And the winner is...
The Outlaw Jose Wales
I don't think you can go wrong w/ Clint
Eastwood Westerns..well maybe Paint Your Waggon (that I have never
been able to make it through) & Two Mules For Sister Sarah (which
I shouldn't be too rough on it since I haven't seen it since I was
like 13 when they used to play it all the time on WKBD TV50 out of
Detroit). I would rank Outlaw Jose Wales 2nd (perhaps 3rd)
of Clint Eastwood's American Westerns. He does a fantastic job
directing & adds another great character to an impressive
resume...plus it has John Vernon in it which is always aces in my
book. Although some of the movies that I watched may have come a
little close to taking this award this week (especially Out of the
Blue, The Omen & Orphan) Outlaw Jose Wales has something special
that most of them are missing..high rewatchability.
Well that will do it for another week
of 6 Pack Cinema. I will be back next week w/ another instalment.
Maybe not @ weeks end but it does come. Thanks to my followers or
anybody who just happened to stop by (you should follow too..Im not
an attention whore but I'd like to know my audience so I can give
shout outs)
Still one more golden amber to hand out
before getting to the Blue Ribbon but before that is serves up
another nomination for Best Picture of the Week of O.
From 1980 Robert M Young's One Trick
Pony
Jonah had a hit during the Vietnam War
but hasn't been able to follow up his success. For over 10 years he
travels w/ his band but commercial success eludes him. He wants to
remain true to his music & doesn't want to over produce to just
to satiate the radio audience. As he carries on his marriage is
falling apart. Now in his late 30s he is not even close to being
where he imagined himself in every facet of life. Is it possible to
succeed in your endeavours w/out sacrificing everything that you hold
dear?
Serving up # 5 of this 6 pack the award
for The Good, the Bad & the Ugly. That moment that stuck w/ me
because it was so good, so bad that it was fucking awesome or just
damn ugly – The Colt 45.
And the nominees are..
From One Crazy Summer – Godzilla On A
Rampage
While stuck in a Godzilla costume
Bobcat Goldthwait has a cigar is tossed into his mouth by William
Hickey. W/ smoke a brewing he crashes Mark Metcalf's business party
& glory stops the holy piss out of a miniature set like it was
Tokyo. By far still my favourite scene is Once Crazy Summer after
not seeing it for close to 20 years.
From The Octagon – Chuck Norris Has
Deep Thoughts In His Head
The Octagon isn't plot heavy for
dialogue from Chuck Norris so to keep the audience abreast of what is
going on Chuck has a voice over so you know what's going on his mind.
This just isn't any voice over as it's whispered w/ re verb. Only
someone as badass as Norris would have such stealth voices in his
head.
From Of Unknown Origin – Rat In A
Toilet
When getting up in the middle of the
night to hang a piss the mad rat that is terrorizing his homestead
leaps out of the can hoping for a midnight snack on Weller's
gronk...I now slowly lift the lid before I take a leak during the
night.
From The Orphan – Esther Wants To
Play Russian Roulette
Isabelle Fuhrman finds a revolver in
Peter Sarsgaard's safe. She takes all the bullet's out but leaves
one in the chamber. Pointing the gun @ Aryana Engineer she signs to
her if she wants to play a game...the one moment that truly unnerved
me in this entire movie.
From One Dark Night - Rhamarevich Has
Telekinesis Beyond The Grave
Even death can't keep creep Rhamarevich
from scaring the girls w/ his telekinetic powers & feeding off
their fear. Death sparks shoot from his eyes & he moved the dead
around the mausoleum. I like seeing teenage girls in the grip of
terror but not as much as I like seeing bully bitches have corpses
stacked up on them.
From Orgazmo – Choda Dog
For how funny Orgazmo is the sight gag
of a dog w/ a dildo on his head fucking kills me. It should be my
new avatar on Twitter..as if I wasn't having problems on there
before
And the winner is..
From Unknown Origin – Rat In a Toilet
Getting my cock ripped off by a rodent
may just be a new fear of mine. I think about this scene every time
I get up in the middle of the night to take a trip to the washroom.
It's even scarier because most of the time I sit down so I don't piss
all over the floor in my groggy state. Having your penis chopped off
would be bad but eaten through the ass would be worse..ladies beware.
Gonna wrap it all up soon but I think I
need some chicken & rice to throw on this booze..& of course
another beer.
Into the 2nd half of this 6
pack soon..ride that 3 beer buzz. But before the next golden amber
here's the next nomination for Best Picture of the Week of O
From 1976 Richard Donner's The Omen
After their child dies @ birth
convinced by a priest Robert Thorn replaces him w/ another - Damien.
As bad luck would have it he's the son of Satan. As he matures a
slew of bodies are left in his wake including his nanny, a priest
that warns of this evil incarnation, a photographer & even his
own adoptive mother. Can Robert Thorn bring himself to kill the
Devil's spawn to save humanity?..probably not because of the dire
need for sequels.
Onto the jag as #4 is cracked
into..time for the award for Best Male Performance – The Bud
And the nominees are..
Charlton Heston as Neville in Omaga Man
Is it any wonder that Heston is a proud
card carrier of the NRA. He shoots to kill like he was born to carry
a gun. Plague infected albino's don't stand a chance against him.
Sure I might have enjoyed this movie more w/ Vincent Price when it
was called Last Man on Earth but Heston brings a fine 70s sensibility
to it all w/ his best role since Planet of the Apes.
Paul Simon as Jonah in One Trick Pony
Simon's understated style is a perfect
fit for One Trick Pony. W/ hardly any actual acting experience under
his belt he carries a leading role very well even if it isn't too
much of a stretch for him as a musician. His stage presence is his
strongest suit but when he has to deal w/ drama of family, his band &
music executives you believe his crossroads. As a true believer that
corporate record companies can suck a big dick Simon's final scenes
of this film makes me smile w/ glee.
Harvey Stephens as Damien in The Omen
Stephens hardly has any dialogue but it
doesn't matter. That child is fucking evil. If Satan's son does
come to this earth I have no doubt that he will look like Stephens.
His scene when he first goes to church is fucking hilarious although
that's just the dark bastard that I am. That look on his face is
worth a million dollars & has me rolling on the floor. You just
can't hone that craft @ such a young age. It's a thing of beauty &
because it is so naturally fitting he will always be Damien 'Son of
Satan'.
Dennis Hopper as Don in Out of the Blue
Hopper is a legend & in Out of the
Blue he is extraordinary. When you are first introduced to him he's
already going off the rails. When he seems like he back on the track
you have to watch w/ gritted teeth because you know it's only a
matter of time before he derails again. It's just a matter of
figuring out how many causalities he's going to take w/ him.
Watching an alcoholic of this magnitude is emotionally exhausting.
Peter Weller as Bart Hughes in Of
Unknown Origin
For the better part of Of Known Origin
Weller is a one man show...well one man & a giant fucking rat.
He makes this more then just a rodent infection film. It's one man's
obsession w/ ridding his home of this vermin that it consumes him
both mentally & physically. It's like falling down a spiral
staircase into a whirlpool. Because of him Of Unknown Origin is a
hell of a lot better then it has any right to be.
Clint Eastwood as Josey Wales in The
Outlaw Jose Wales
Eastwood knows the western genre like
the back of his hand. He was trained under the master Sergio Leone.
He really needs no guidance to give you a strong memorable
performance for this type of film. He's directing himself because
the pupil is now a master on his own but in an American sense. His
2nd strongest performance in a none spaghetti behind
Unforgiven.
And the winner is..
Dennis Hopper in Out of the Blue
Hopper left me fucking exhausted. As
soon as he put a bottle to his lips it was like watching on coming
headlights down a one way street. You know it's coming, you want to
get out of the way but you know no matter how much you swerve there
are going to be hardly any survivors. It made me want to cry if you
didn't despise him by the end. Once again Hopper is brilliant.
Still a couple more to go /Another trip
to the fridge.
Get to topping off this first half of
this 6 pack in a sec but before hand gonna roll out the next
nomination for Best Picture for the Week of O.
From 1976 Clint Eastwood's Outlaw Jose
Wales
After his family is killed farmer Jose
Wales becomes part of the Confederate resistance who is asked to join
The Union. He doesn't succumb & the other men are bushwhacked &
murdered. Jose guns down those responsible & is framed for the
onslaught for everyone involved. Wanted for the crimes Wales is
hunted across country by The Union & bounty hunters alike.
Time for the 3rd award of
the week for Best Female Performance – The C.L.I.T.
The nominees are..
Billie Whitelaw as Mrs Baylock in The
Omen
Sent from Satan herself to look after
Damien Whitelaw is slyly sinister as she knows the demon child’s
true calling. Hell she's so naturally beautiful sinister in the role
that someone should have made a movie just for her as an evil nanny &
had her casting agent jump all over it...plus I love how she throws
Lee Remick out of that window.
Frances Sternhagen as Dr Lazarus in
Outland
I would know Sternhagen later in her
career as Cliff Clavin's mother on Cheers but as the doctor on
Jupiter's mining colony she's sassy, smart & a nice addition to a
male driven cast in Outland. Connery might be a cinema legend but
Sternhagen steals just about every scene she's in w/ him.
Sophia Loren as Nora in Operation
Crossbow
Loren is a beauty to the eyes. As the
wife of a man in Nazi regime who's dead & being impersonated by
enemy operatives she pulls @ the heart stings a bit as she knows that
she will not live to see her children again. It's unfortunate that
she's not really in this film that much (even w/ high billing) but
her involvement is strong & I was sadden to see her offed.
Linda Manz as Cebe in Out of the Blue
If Manz was born 8 years earlier she
would have had a power house of a career. Natural & full of
spite she shines in Out of the Blue. Her performance is the stuff
that great movies from the 70s were made of..unfortunately Out of the
Blue came out in 1980 & the roles probably weren't there for her
as the industry changed.
Isabelle Fuhrman as Esther in Orphan
At such a young age Fuhrman has a hell
of a career ahead of her or she will constantly be haunted by her
fantastic performance in Orphan. She is the evil child for a new
generation manipulating the audience & those around her w/ a
proficiency beyond her years. A very mature role @ it's core Fuhrman
sops it up like a orderly w/ a sponge.
Rosalind Cash as Lisa in Omega Man
I'll give Cash koodoos just for having
to sleep w/ Charlton Heston. African American audiences should have
been in arms that she did. To sleep w/ a white man just because he
is one of the last men on earth is not reason to jump in bed w/ him
but then again compared to albinos like Matthias Heston might not
look so pale.
And the winner is..
Isabelle Fuhrman in Orphan
From the first moment Fuhrman appears
on screen she is something special. She exudes a natural drawing
power that makes you believe that Farminga & Sarsgaard's
characters were drawn to her. She plays the manipulation &
unspeakable acts w/ ease that it makes you fear & hate her but @
the same time be fascinated by her & what her motives are. When
this film twists she matures up to the role's demands very well.
Dead soldier but I still have another 3
to go.
Delve into the 2nd half of
this 6 pack after this..
Lot's of golden amber still to hand out
as Im just getting started but before w/ get to the encased aluminium
here's the next nomination for The Blue Ribbon for Best Picture of
the week of O.
From 2009 Jaume Collet-Serra's Orphan
After losing their child @ birth Kate &
John look to adoption to add another mouth to their flock & think
they have found something exceptional in 9 year old Russian orphan
Esther. Things soon seem amiss to Kate but not to John as the two
are played against once another as Esther is much more then what
originally meets the eye as the casualties start to pile up. W/ what
just sorta seems like another bad seed film has a hell of a lot more
then you'd except.
Onto the 2nd serving of the
6 pack awards. Time to hand out this week's best score or soundtrack
– The Rolling Rock
And the nominees are..
The Outlaw Jose Whales
Jerry Fielding's score is a great slice
in time of the Confederacy. It sets an excellent stage for a true
American Western during war time that's not overtly war themed.
Clint Eastwood knows the genre well & complements his action w/ a
solid score making it a true key to a film that's one of his 3 most
complete outside of the spaghetti genre.
One Crazy Summer
A slice of 80s summer w/ a 60s throw
back One Crazy Summer's soundtrack is fun & light on demand often
like the film itself w/ the likes of David Lee Roth, ZZ Top, Twisted
Sister, Honeymoon Suite, Eurythmics, Steppenwolf & a shit pile of
Beach Boys.
Out of the Blue
Unfortunately I can't supply a complete
listing of artist on this film because there's none on the credits &
nothing really on line. There's some Elvis because Linda Manz
character is a Elvis fan, a touch of punk (nothing of any notable
bands I know) but it's Neil Young's bitter sweet ballad that gives
this film iridescence & sings pathos on it's own.
Once Trick Pony
Paul Simon supplies a superb
functioning soundtrack that is complemented by some of his
performances but always in character. This could have been a really
vanity project w/ for Simon as writer, star & music provider but
it's never commercial. The soundtrack carries it along for a band on
the road & an artist who's radio success is eluding him..&
then it kicks you in the boo-boo w/ a performance by The B-52s.
Orgazmo
I fucking love the theme to Orgazmo. I
think it's hilarious. It's sorta like Survivor's Eye of the Tiger of
the porn sect. Sandwiches a very funny film perfectly in it's
opening & closing credits. More super heroes should have theme
songs like this..gives be a boner..because Im a man!
The Omen
Jerry Goldsmith's theme to The Omen
scares the piss out of me. I believe he's onto something very evil
here & if Satan ever sends his offspring to this world he will
rightfully lift the score from this film to strike terror in those
who fall by his hand.
..And the winner is
One Trick Pony
I really like what Paul Simon did w/
his work on One Trick Pony. From the actual performance to just
montage his soundtrack is solid for it's rubicund tone. This is not
a hit friendly score from him but it's very listenable...maybe Im
getting softer in my years but I won't rightfully admit it.
Still plenty on tap & more to serve
to the worthy.
Alright I'll start handing out the
golden amber in a moment but before hand the first nomination for the
Blue Ribbon of Best Picture for the Week of O.
From 1980 Dennis Hopper's Out of the
Blue
Cebe's mother is a junky & her
father is doing time. Disenchanted by her rock & punk idols
dying she is living a nihilistic existence on the cusp. Thinking
things will be better when he father is released from jail rose
tinted glasses are soon shattered as he continues to his alcoholic
ways. Cebe soon learns it's better to burn out then fade away.
Time for the first award of the week
that of The Life of Influence Under the Influence – The 40
This week's recipient I probably got to
know his name a little to early in life but like most healthy
pubescent males growing up it didn't take me too long to find my
dad's porn stash that I'd be introduced to the Hedge Hog Ron Jeremy.
I first saw Ron Jeremy in a film called
Erotic Interludes. His secretary was riding him on the couch while
he slurped droplets of milk from her ample bosom. Before he could
finish the task @ hand Juliet Anderson came into the reception area
to apply for the new secretary position. Ron's assistant hears
Anderson in the waiting room, informs him that the girl is here for
the new position (Ron misunderstands her when she says 'new position'
& says 'let's do doggie'), gets dressed leaving Ron to deal w/
his erection. Then I learned that he had a undeniable talent &
gave himself fellatio...Shocked I never forgot the name of Ron
Jeremy.
I would see Ron in a number of adult
films over the years & he always brought something amusing to an
industry that is more meat & potatoes then character. After a
while he would pop up in non-pornographic movies, a stint on the
Surreal Life & I must say that I became a fan of his natural
charm. Watched his bio movie & realized he is one hardest
working mother-fuckers in the business...& that is the business
of show. His lengthy adult career may have made him a legend in
certain facets but his work ethic & determination should classify
him as a star.
I hope someday he as a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame because although his work is fringe in the
annals of pop culture it can't be denied.
Even though I love Ron that thought of
having my own cock in my mouth has me needing for another beer to
cleanse the pallet.
Blaxunshine is back w/ another vol of 6
Pack Cinema Awards.
A little late putting up these posts
but I was misbehaving on the weekend. Went out to the new LBCO &
was drinking whipped vodka, peach schnapps, peace juice w/ a splash
of cream like it was going out of style..& beer on top of that.
Well I paid like hell the next day because those are some creeping
mother-fuckers...Im still not feeling right but I'll plug along @
giving out this week's golden amber & throw a little hair of the
dog on my liver for good measure.
This week was spent watching movies
that started w/ the letter O & I didn't get through as many.
..My
excuse? I was rip roaring drunk on Saturday & couldn't focus on
movies so I played PS2 Yahtzee & Rocky. I pity the foo who
doesn't feel the wrath of Clubber Lang! I did get through 13 flix
this week so not as many as previous weeks but still a fair chunk.
That might be closer to the number that's up for grabs for things to
come. 16-19 is nice but I don't know if I'll always have the time
for such..we'll see. Never say never.
Get things under way in a bit &
start serving them up but going to start things off like I do every
week..w/ a musical number.
Here's Warren Zevon from last week's
nomination for best soundtrax The Color of Money w/ Werewolves of
London.
Alright I think I have a little hustle
in my shuffle now & Im going to shuffle off to the fridge for a
cold one.
