Still lots of golden amber in this 6
Pack to hand out for the week of 7 but before getting to the next one
another nomination for Best Picture of the Week.
From 1977 John Badham's Saturday Night
Fever
A staple of late 70s cinema Tony Manero
has a dead end job but by night he is the king of boogie @ the local
disco. Manero is happiest when he's on the dance floor where he's
pure machismo but the forces of bitter reality @ home w/ his family,
on the town bullshit w/ his friends & the fact that he is going
no where fast are closing in. Competing in the clubs dance
competition Tony dreams of having a moment of greatness but even that
comes w/ a hard pill of reality to swallow.
Time for the 2nd award of
the 6 Pack given to the best female performance. For the past 6
weeks this award was the C.L.I.T but since I have tasted the C.L.I.T
& found it not to be such the sweet gumdrop that I had hoped
it was so it's now being switched up. The award given out for Best Female
Performance will now be – The Bush..Curtis Armstrong would be
proud.
The nominees are..
Donna Pescow as Annette in Saturday
Night Fever
Pescow has the hots for Travolta
wanting his spicy Italian sausage something fierce. Travolta thinks
she's a bit of a cunt but still attempts to have a go @ her.
Although Tony doesn't give her any sauce for her linguine his friends
don't have any problem taking a crack @ her as they give her a gang
bang in the back of a car. Tony may say that now she is a cunt in
reality she's quite sad like many girls lookin for love but settling
on attention.
Sally Field as Carrie in Smokey &
the Bandit
Sally Field has always had a perky
charm to her dating all the way back to her Gidget days. She's a
great counter part to Burt Reynolds being in 4 movies w/ him (this
being her first). As the key female in this cast she has natural
screen charisma & is a lot of fun to have along for the ride
making for a good romantic interest along the way. Her comic
delivery is even pretty good. Every time she lights up a cigarette I
have to laugh..she enjoys it so much.
Fay Spain as Louise Blake in Dragstrip
Girl
I like girls that are into hot rods &
Spain doesn't mind getting greasy either. Even though she has a bit
of grrl power she still really likes the attention of the boys being
indecisive about Steven Terrell & John Ashley sorta playing them
both. She's a modern teenager of the 50s who wants to have it all.
Faye Dunaway as Wanda Wilcox in Barfly
Dunaway is a great alcoholic that
sometimes seems a bit more crazy then drunk. She'll hook up w/
anyone who has a 5th of bourbon. She wears the sickness
well even if her weakness for the sauce flares her temper,
loneliness, personal dependency & jealousy. A great character
in the annals of drunks.
Marilyn Chambers as Rose in Rabid
Rabid gives Chambers a nice cross over
from XXX. It doesn't demand a lot out of playing to her sensual
strengths & natural attractive screen presence. She carries the
living sexual virus very well & could have easily became a
70s/80s horror diva after this if not returning to porn. Natasha
Henstridge should have watched Chamber's performance before she did
Species.
Lilyan Chauvin as Mother Superior in
Silent Night Deadly Night 2
Yes I know her whole performance
consists of flash backs from the 1st SNDN but I love
Lilyan Chauvin so much that I have to include her. Maybe she'll make
this list again when I watch the original SNDN @ Xmas. She's my 2nd
favorite 80s horror female behind Betsy Palmer..Punishment is good!
And the winner is..
Faye Dunaway in Barfly
Barfly could very easily been a great
movie carried by Mickey Rourke but w/ the addition of Faye Dunaway it
gives this film even more layer. Pathetic @ her core because of the
alcohol dependency the audience never has any contempt or overt
sympathy for her because she drinks w/ class. She makes me happy
that Rourke has found someone to share his drinking w/..well until
the booze runs out anyway.
Another trip to the fridge for a cold
one as plenty still to serve up.
Be back after this..
